The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation has announced a Shs750 million scholarship package for the 2026–2027 academic year, aimed at supporting Ugandan students pursuing both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic merit and financial need, targeting students who demonstrate strong academic performance but face financial barriers to higher education.
Established in 2003, the Foundation has supported thousands of Ugandan students to access university education, investing billions of shillings in scholarships as part of its broader effort to promote skills development and contribute to national growth.
The programme prioritises disciplines considered critical to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation, particularly in science, technology, health, and business-related fields.
Speaking on the announcement, Board Chairman Gerald Ssendawula said education remains central to unlocking opportunity and driving national progress.
“Education remains one of the most powerful drivers of opportunity and national development. Through these scholarships, the Foundation continues to support Ugandan students who demonstrate academic excellence and the determination to contribute to their communities and the country,” he said.
The 2026–2027 scholarship cycle will run under the theme “Torch of Legacy,” underscoring the role of education in transferring knowledge, skills, and responsibility across generations.
Eligible fields of study include Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Commerce, Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Information Technology, Hotel Management, Pharmacy, Nursing, Architecture, Veterinary Medicine, Actuarial Science, Environmental Studies, and Human Medicine.
The announcement reinforces the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to higher education and nurturing a skilled workforce to support Uganda’s development agenda.
