Police arrest Rwababa Primary School headteacher after preventing a P7 candidate from taking national exams due to an unpaid Shs 70,000 coaching fee.

Police in Kabale District have arrested the headteacher of Rwababa Primary School in Kyanamira Sub-County for allegedly preventing a Primary Seven pupil from sitting the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) over an unpaid coaching fee.

The suspect, identified as Drake Kishija, reportedly blocked pupil Ezekiel Ahimbisibwe (Index No. 002/002472) from taking his final national examinations, claiming the student had not cleared a Shs 70,000 coaching fee during the recent teachers’ industrial action.

The incident was reported to Kabale Police Station by the pupil’s relative, Gerald Natuhumuza Esau, who accused the headteacher of unlawfully denying the child his right to education despite being fully registered for the national exams.

Police investigations revealed that Ezekiel was only allowed into the examination room by officers when the exam was nearly over.
