Nsangi Police Division has received a boost from Police Headquarters, including two motor vehicles and 30 additional personnel, to enhance security in the area.
The reinforcement enabled the division to conduct intensive operations and patrols, resulting in the arrest of 46 suspects on October 21, 2025, and 37 suspects on October 22, 2025.
The suspects face various charges, including being a common nuisance, possession of suspected stolen property, and carrying dangerous weapons.
In a statement, Patrick Onyango, spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), said the operations are part of a broader plan to address panga-wielding thuggery in Nsangi.
"We have empowered village security committees to work alongside our officers, collaborated with local leaders, and intensified patrols with additional personnel and vehicles," he said.
"Our goal is to restore order, boost public confidence, and eliminate fear in the community.”
Earlier this week, Nsangi Police reported that 43 suspected panga-wielding thugs were arrested during operations under this plan.
The division has also installed lighting in previously dark spots to deter criminal activity, a move that has been welcomed by local residents.
Onyango added: “Since the joint patrols began with village security committees, no major incidents have been reported. The community is already feeling safer, and we will continue these initiatives to maintain law and order.”
