Police have finally broken the silence about the attack by musician Pius Mayanja on the home of fellow singer, Patrick Mulwana aka Alien Skin.
In a statement on Thursday afternoon, Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said they have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which the attack unfolded leading to robbery and damage of several property at Alien Skin’s home in Kisungu zone, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
Onyango said the incident was reported by Mulwana against Pallaso whom he said committed the crimes while armed with pangas, pit axes, hammers, and stones.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the reporter and the suspect had a disagreement while performing at a venue in Buloba, Wakiso District. The dispute escalated, leading to the attack on Alien Skin's residence,” Onyango said.
According to police, at around 3am on January, 2, Pallaso and his group attacked the residence but were repelled by police from Makindye Police Station but launched a second attack at 9:00 a.m. the same day, resulting in significant damage to property.
“The suspects allegedly destroyed five motor vehicles, with shattered windshields and damaged lights, three houses with shattered glass and robbed cash amounting to shs6 million.”
Onyango said during the attack, Joseph Nyanzi, Julius Mugabi and one Becker were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Mengo Hospital.
“The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.”
The attack has highlighted the growing vice of violence and gangs among Ugandan musicians.
