Spiro Signs Influencer Deal With SafeBoda Co-Founder to Drive E-Mobility Awareness

Electric vehicle company, Spiro, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SafeBoda co-founder and director, Ricky Papa Thompson to drive awareness and adoption of Spiro's electric motorbike ecosystem among boda boda riders and delivery users nationwide.

By joining forces with Ricky, we are bridging authentic community connections with innovative technology to accelerate clean, affordable, and locally built electric mobility solutions across Uganda,” said Kaushik Burman, CEO - Spiro.

According to officials, the SafeBoda co-founder will use his unique combination of community leadership and digital influence to support Spiro with on-ground activations and social media amplification.

Commenting about the partnership, Rapa Thomson Ricky expressed commitment to popularize electric motorbikes in Uganda.

"I am thrilled to partner with Spiro to champion a new era of mobility for Uganda's boda riders. Our community is the heartbeat of urban transport, and together we can drive real change making electric mobility not just a dream, but a reality for thousands of hardworking riders across the country. I am passionate about empowering boda riders with cleaner, more affordable options that improve their livelihoods and our environment,” he said.

He noted that the boda boda industry has seen number of innovations, some of which have been introduced by Spiro.

He hailed the company for the innovation.

“I am very passionate about the industry and I want everything good for it. This partnership is an opportunity for me to use my voice to amplify the good work by Spiro for betterment of the industry," Papa Ricky said.

“ It is our responsibility to protect the environment and Spiro provides this with their electric motorbikes. I am sure there is going to be something better for riders.”

Victor Getenya, the head of marketing for Spiro in Africa said the partnership is part of the very aggressive agenda that the company has.

“This is meant to demonstrate our commitment as Spiro to a very clear agenda of empowering the boda boda community in Uganda,”Getenya said.

During the same occasion, Gaurav Anand, the Country Head - Spiro Uganda announced slashing of prices for electric motorbikes to shs3.8 million.

He said the move is aimed as further driving adoption of electric motorbikes in the country, which are currently less than 2000 in number.
