Mother, two sons, neighbour arrested over murder of  family head

Police in Isingiro District are investigating circumstances that led to the murder of Byenyinemwe Ben, 64  aged  the LC2 chairman for Nyamitsindo Parish Masha Sub county Isingiro District.

According to the Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira , the incident happened on October, 22, 2023.

“Police of Masha received information from one Kato the defense secretary of Nyamitsindo Parish regarding the murder of their Chairman LCII.  Police dispatched a team of officers to the scene that also included the Police K9 Unit and on arrival the deceased's body was found lying on his bed in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the neck," Kasasira said.

According to the wife who was present at the time, the  assailants attacked the deceased while she was in the store and only met three individuals coming out of the house that also assaulted her as they fled the scene.

When the Police K9 dog was introduced to the scene of crime it led the officers to Nyakagyera cell Kabingo Sub County about 10kms from the scene entering the house of his son Yebuuze Ronald and later proceeded to the house of Tukwatanise Moses his neighbor.

According to preliminary investigations the couple had developed domestic misunderstandings after the deceased married a second wife which created a rift in the family.

It is suspected that this could have led to his murder.

Currently four people including Kiconco Sylivia, 56, the  wife tow the deceased, Katushabe Aloysious a  40 year old  son to the deceased, Yebuuze Ronald, 33 , also a  son to the deceased and Tukwatanise Moses, 30 a neighbour to the deceased's son to help in investigations.

The body of the deceased  has been taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem and the four suspects are in custody as investigations  into the matter are still ongoing.
