The competition, which has already staged showcases in Hoima, Masaka, Mbarara, and Arua, is steadily positioning itself as one of Uganda’s most dynamic grassroots platforms for discovering urban and emerging dance talent.

Gulu, a key cultural centre in northern Uganda, is expected to bring a strong creative identity to the competition, with organisers highlighting its vibrant youth culture driven by music, performance, and social expression.

Participants are expected to showcase a wide range of dance styles, including Afro-fusion, hip-hop, amapiano-inspired choreography, and traditional northern Uganda dance influences.

The city’s influence on digital music culture has also been growing, with locally inspired tracks gaining traction on platforms such as TikTok, reflecting the region’s increasing contribution to Uganda’s contemporary entertainment scene.

Since its launch, Tusker Lite Neon Raves has evolved beyond a traditional dance contest into a broader youth engagement platform, combining performance, nightlife culture, and community interaction.

Speaking ahead of the Gulu auditions, Sandra Againe, Brand Manager at Tusker Lite, said the city’s creative energy makes it an ideal stop for the competition.

“Gulu has a strong creative spirit and an incredible energy that makes it the perfect home for the next Neon Raves edition. We know the city has amazing dance talent, and we are excited to see crews bring their originality, passion and performance to the stage,” she said.

She added that the platform is designed to give young people visibility and opportunities to express themselves through dance and performance.

Organisers say previous editions have attracted strong participation and audience engagement, with each city contributing unique styles and interpretations that reflect Uganda’s diverse cultural landscape.

Beyond the competition itself, the Gulu auditions are expected to double as a social and cultural gathering, bringing together dancers, music fans, and revellers in a shared celebration of creativity.

For participants, the event offers a chance not only to compete but also to gain national exposure and represent their communities in one of Uganda’s fast-growing youth entertainment platforms.
