Kampala’s Strictly Soul experience is set to return on June 2 with an R&B-themed holiday eve party at Mestil Hotel, targeting young urban audiences looking for curated music and social nightlife.

Kampala’s nightlife scene is set for a midweek boost as Strictly Soul returns on June 2 with a special Martyrs’ Day eve edition expected to attract R&B enthusiasts and urban partygoers.

The event will be hosted at Mestil Hotel, with organisers positioning it as a premium music experience built around old-school and contemporary R&B sounds.

The timing coincides with the eve of Martyrs’ Day, a public holiday in Uganda that traditionally fuels nightlife activity as revellers take advantage of the break to unwind and socialise.

Organisers say the experience is designed around a growing demand among young urban audiences for interactive, curated nightlife events rather than conventional club experiences.

The playlist will feature a blend of global R&B classics and modern hits from artistes such as Brandy, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, SZA, and Summer Walker, creating a sing-along and nostalgia-driven atmosphere.

International DJ DJ Akio Kawahito is billed as the headline act, supported by local DJs KasBaby, DJ Nick, and Em the DJ.

The event will be hosted by Kamuhangi and Sheila Salta, who are expected to drive audience engagement throughout the night.

The edition is powered by Johnnie Walker Blonde, which organisers say aligns with the event’s relaxed yet energetic concept aimed at fostering social connection through music.

“Johnnie Walker Blonde is all about bold, easy energy and is exactly what you need on a holiday eve. Strictly Soul gives Kampala a reason to come together, let loose, and make memories that taste as good as the music sounds,” said Christine Kyokunda, Brand Manager East Africa.

Strictly Soul is organised by The Production House (TPH) and Camelot Concept, and has in recent editions established itself as a niche R&B-focused nightlife experience in Kampala, distinguishing itself from mainstream club events through curated playlists and immersive DJ sets.

The June 2 edition will run from 7:00pm to 1:30am, with tickets priced between Shs50,000 and Shs100,000, according to organisers.

The event adds to Kampala’s growing portfolio of themed nightlife experiences that cater to segmented audiences, particularly within the city’s expanding creative and entertainment economy.
