Kayunga Hospital Conducts Free Dental Camp Under 'Smile Makeover' Outreach

Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital is conducting a five-day free dental screening camp under a community outreach programme codenamed Smile Makeover, aimed at improving oral health among residents.

According to Dr Deborah A. Isabirye, the dental surgeon and head of the Dental Department at Kayunga Regional Referral Hospital, the programme is offering free dental check-ups, oral health education, and specialised dental treatment to people of all ages.

The initiative focuses on promoting proper oral hygiene practices and addressing common dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, tooth loss, broken teeth, and treatment for fractured teeth.

Dr Isabirye said the Smile Makeover community outreach will also be extended to schools to provide oral health education to students and teachers, with the goal of promoting early dental care and preventing dental diseases among young people.

The hospital has encouraged the public to embrace regular dental check-ups and proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing teeth twice a day and reducing sugary foods, to maintain healthy teeth and smiles.

The Smile Makeover initiative is part of the hospital’s community outreach programmes aimed at bringing specialised dental services closer to the people and improving overall oral health in Kayunga District.
