Besigye: Museveni to replace Boda Boda 2010 with new group

Opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye  has said the disbandment of Boda Boda 2010 should not excite Ugandans because President Museveni will create another para military group.

Speaking to The Nile Post at his residence in Kasangati today, Besigye said the arrest of the group members is just a tactical move by the regime to catch its breath.

members of the group including its leader, Abudallah Kitatta were arrested over the weekend by the military after information surfaced that they were involved in the death Francis Ekalungar, who was working as an accountant at Case Hospital.

So far at least 30 people have been arrested while the offices of the group in the various city divisions have been ransacked.

"Nothing has changed. Kitatta is creation of Museveni, shortly you will see another group that will emerge. It will beat opposition supporters," he said.

The opposition leader said he was concerned that the state was acting very late, similar to locking the stable when the houses have bolted.

"They are gangs. When they cross lines, they (state) blindfolds us by arresting them. I am waiting to see whether they will be prosecuted," Besigye said.

Asked about the apparent clash between the police force and the military over the matter, Besigye said the two institutions are just fighting for funding.

"There is a lot of money allocated for security. Kayihura had bargained for a bigger share but others are now struggling to be considered," he said.
