Emirates airlines cabin crew member dies after falling out of plane at Entebbe Airport

The fly emirates airlines crew member who fell out of a plane at Entebbe Airport yesterday has been confirmed dead at hospital where she had been rushed.

Ms Elena Vassileva, a Bulgarian national born 1971, was preparing to board passengers on the Dubai bound aircraft when she fell out of the emergency door, landing head first on the tarmac at the air side of Entebbe International Airport.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), airport authorities engaged emergency procedures and an ambulance which they used to rush Elena to a nearby medical facility.

Nile Post understands that the crew member was rushed to Our Lady of Consolata, Kisubi Hospital where she succumbed to injuries in the night.

Mr Usher Owere, the chairman general of workers in Uganda and NOTU also confirmed the same.

“We regret to inform you about the sadden demise of fly emirates cabin crew who passed on at the hospital where she had been rushed to not at airport at its reported in news outlets,” he said.

This is not the first accident of the kind happening at Entebbe Airport,  in October 2014, a one Henry Kimuli Ssebaggala fell off the second floor of the terminal building at the airport and died instantly.

A decade earlier, a worker at the airport while intending to hitch a plane ride hid under the tyre compartment of a plane at the airport, however shortly after the plain started taxing, he came fell out and crashed on the runaway beyond recognition.
