The organizing committee of MissTourismBuganda2026, under the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board, has selected tourism ambassadors from 11 counties that are unable to host the pageant competitions within their respective counties.

The selection exercise was held at the headquarters of the Buganda tourism body in Mengo, near the Mengo Palace. The event was attended by the contestants and their supporters who accompanied them.

The selected contestants come from the counties of Buweekula, Kooki, Busujju, Bulemeezi, Kabula, Mawokota, Gomba, Bugerere, Mawogola, Buvuma, and Butambala. They were crowned with their county crowns and will now join representatives who had already been selected from counties able to organize the competitions, including Busiro, Kyaddondo, Kyaggwe, Ssingo, Buluuli, and Ssese.

With the process of selecting representatives from all counties complete, the competition for Miss Tourism Buganda 2026 has now entered the Buganda-wide stage. The official activities are expected to begin on 2 July 2026, with the grand finale scheduled for 24 July 2026 at Hotel Africana.

At the end of the competition, the Buganda Kingdom will select three tourism queens who will represent Buganda at the national Miss Tourism Uganda competition.

The chairperson of the Miss Tourism Buganda 2026 organizing committee, Mr. Kyagulanyi Shafik, expressed appreciation to all the 18 county chiefs in Buganda, cultural and tourism officials, parents of the contestants, and all supporters of the Kabaka’s people who have contributed to the success of the county-level activities.

“We appreciate the county leaders, cultural and tourism officers, parents, and all the people of Buganda who have supported this initiative. As we enter this stage of the competition, we call upon institutions and individuals to continue supporting us because sponsorship is now very important,” said Mr. Kyagulanyi Shafik.

The organizers have encouraged more institutions and well-wishers to come forward and support the journey as the contestants compete for the opportunity to represent Buganda at the national tourism beauty pageant.
