The 2025 Afri Art Fashion Show has concluded on a high at Motiv Bugolobi elevating the Ugandan fashion and art industry to new heights.

Transitioning from a single-day event to a full week , the activities showcased a vibrant fusion of creativity, heritage, and modern hustle.

The journey began with the Inter-University Fashion Challenge at Design District in Bugolobi.

This was a pre-cursor event with a mission to impact grassroot designers.

The overall winning team at this competition was flaming five from Kyambogo University. Other winners included Angella Niyigena from Michelangello School of Creative Art and Design, Derik Kwikiriza from University of Kisubi, Kirabo Ryhan from University of Kisubi and Rubanga Benjamin from Makerere University.

The winners from the Inter-university fashion challenge each got an opportunity to showcase their pieces at the Grand event Afri Art Fashion show. Their early exposure set a powerful tone for the week to come, affirming our commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent.

The momentum continued with a one day Art and Fashion Exhibition at the NACCAU Gardens at the National Theatre, a space where makers and designers connected with new audiences and potential markets.

The grand finale at Motiv in Bugolobi brought together the culmination of the week’s events: a spectacular runway show and the inaugural Afri Art Fashion Awards.

Sixteen talented Ugandan designers mesmerized the audience with their collections, all crafted under the theme, “My Heritage, My Hustle.” This theme beautifully manifested through diverse categories including Modernity, Heritage, Ghetto vs Urban, Eco & Sustainable Fashion, and Inclusive Fashion, each telling a unique story of identity and perseverance.

A landmark feature this year was the introduction of the Afri Art Fashion Awards (A.A.F.A.). Conceived to recognize outstanding excellence and amplify the show’s mission, the awards honored innovation, craftsmanship, and cultural narratives.

With over 800 nominations received and 70 nominees accepted, the awards provided invaluable validation for creatives.
