Social-political commentator, Frank Gashumba has defended his choice to marry his partner, who appears to be significantly younger than him.
Last week, Gashumba ended two decades of being single when his new girlfriend, Patience Mutoni Malaika, introduced him to her parents in Lwemiyaga.
While many took to social media to congratulate the founder of Sisimuka Uganda on his new relationship, others questioned the age difference between the couple.
Some expressed surprise that Malaika, who seems to be in her early 20s, chose to be with Gashumba, 50.
In a recent radio interview, Gashumba labelled those questioning their age gap as individuals who have failed in life and struggled to find love themselves.
He questioned whether these critics expected him to marry someone much older when he himself is not that old.
Gashumba also defended their relationship, asserting that Malaika is of legal age, so their partnership is not problematic.
"Is she underage? Who are these people criticising us on social media? Do I even know them? Most of the people attacking Malaika are failures. They are women who indulge in bad habits. They've been in countless relationships and have never introduced a man to their parents," Gashumba stated.
He further explained his choice to marry Malaika, saying, "Why do you think I left all the options here and travelled all the way to Lwemiyaga to find her? It shows that the most valuable treasures are often hidden far and deep."
