KAMPALA | Tensions within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) have reached a boiling point as members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) expressed their frustrations over a range of issues within the NRM party.

While appearing on the NBS Morning Breeze talk show, NRM vice-chairman for Kampala, Singh Katongole lamented with frustration the prolonged absence of engagements with the party chairman, President Yoweri Museveni, with the last meeting taking place two and a half years ago.

"The neglect of the Central Executive Committee by President Museveni is concerning," he said.

"We haven't had a meeting with him in years, and this has led to a sense of disenfranchisement among party members.

"It becomes sad when the chairman of the party doesn't consult the CEC members, I know he may have rights in a few issues as per his capacity, but not all"

Katongole didn't spare the NRM secretariat which he accused of manipulating the party's chairman to endorse their decision as a final stand without involving CEC in any consultative engagements.

"People at the top leadership of the secretariat are disguising the chairman to believe that they are working and therefore final decisions reached are made by the secretariat with endorsement from the the chair," Katongole added.

According to Kangole, the past two years have seen CEC in a slumber since the secretariat positioned itself as the top most decisive section in the party.

" The way things are moving in CEC are not right, CEC has been over run, for the past 1 to 2 years it has been the secretariat running the CEC"
