Next Media Group Chief Executive Kin Kariisa has pledged to strengthen the partnership between his organization and Africa Renewal University (ARU) by creating opportunities for the institution’s creative graduates.
In a speech delivered for him by Isaac Rucci at ARU’s sixth graduation ceremony at the university’s Buloba campus in Wakiso District on Friday, March 28, Kariisa announced plans to generate millions of jobs through a new hub under construction at Next Media Park in Naguru.
"We are aiming to create more than 1.5 million job opportunities over the next three years through our Creator Hub. This facility, currently under construction, will provide significant opportunities for collaboration with ARU’s newly established film and broadcast department," Kariisa said.
A total of 516 students graduated at the ceremony, earning undergraduate degrees, postgraduate diplomas, diplomas, and certificates.
Founded as Gaba Bible Institute, Africa Renewal University has evolved into a growing institution dedicated to equipping Christian leaders to bring compassion and hope to their communities.
This year’s graduation was celebrated under the theme "Empowered to Serve: Answering Africa’s Call."
"The theme of our sixth graduation is not just a slogan but a call to action—a reminder that your education and faith have equipped you to be agents of transformation in Africa and beyond," said ARU Vice-Chancellor Vincent Byamukama.
Kariisa emphasized Next Media’s commitment to driving transformation in Uganda by fostering youth talent and innovation.
"As Uganda’s leading media organization, we are intentional about transforming the country by staying relevant," he said.
"We recognize that this cannot be achieved without engaging our young people, who form the bulk of our population. We look forward to collaborating with them to maximize their creative potential and congratulate all the graduands on their achievement today."
Dr. Jobra Kisaku Mulumba, Chairman of the Africa Renewal University Council, underscored the long-term benefits of formal education, referencing research in education and labor economics.
He explained that studies consistently show a strong link between higher education and improved economic outcomes.
Individuals who invest in formal education tend to secure better-paying jobs, experience lower unemployment rates, and enjoy greater career stability.
This is because formal education enhances critical skills, increases employability, and provides access to a broader range of opportunities in an increasingly knowledge-based economy.
