KAMPALA | The Republic of France has pledged to invest a substantial sum of $3 billion (about Shs12 trillion) in Uganda's development over the next three years.
Xavier Sticker, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Uganda, said the investments will be strategically allocated to key sectors such as agriculture and oil and gas, with the aim of fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in Uganda.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda announced on Wednesday that a constructive meeting was held between Gen Abubakher Odongo Jeje, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Xavier Sticker at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala.
The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.
During the discussions, both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing ties across various sectors of mutual interest.
France reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to Uganda's socio-economic development and made this groundbreaking investment announcement.
The government expressed its sincere appreciation to the Republic of France for this generous investment commitment, which reflects the deep-rooted friendship and partnership between the two nations.
These funds are expected to play a significant role in helping Uganda achieve its development goals and improve the well-being of its citizens.
Both parties reiterated their dedication to maintaining a constructive dialogue and collaboration in pursuit of shared objectives, further strengthening the strong and enduring partnership between Uganda and France.
Odongo extended his gratitude to Ambassador Sticker and the government of France for their steadfast support and partnership, adding that he was looking forward to the successful implementation of the envisaged projects that will benefit both nations.
