The territorial police in Mubende District have launched an intensive manhunt following the gruesome murder of 16-year-old Juliet Nalubombwe , a resident of Nakigando East LC1, Kijumba Parish, Kiyuni Sub County.
According to preliminary police findings, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at around 4pm.
Earlier that afternoon, Nalubombwe’s mother had left home at approximately 3:30 p.m. to visit her father-in-law, leaving her daughter alone in the house.
Shortly after her departure, heavy rain began to fall. Police believe that during this time, an unidentified individual entered the home, raped the teenager, and then slit her throat before fleeing the scene under the cover of the rain.
When her mother returned home, she was met with a horrific sight her daughter lying lifeless in a pool of blood. She immediately raised the alarm and reported the matter to the police.
“Our crime scene team has already visited the location and collected crucial evidence,” said SP Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson.
“We are working tirelessly to identify, arrest, and prosecute the person responsible for this heinous act.”
The victim’s body was taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
Police have urged community members to remain vigilant and cooperate by sharing any information that could help in tracking down the suspect.
