CANAL+, Samsung Expand Strategic Partnership Across Uganda, African Markets

CANAL+ and Samsung Electronics have expanded their strategic partnership to English- and Portuguese-speaking African markets served by MultiChoice Group, in a move aimed at increasing access to digital entertainment across the continent.

The collaboration marks the first rollout of a pre-installed MultiChoice streaming application on Samsung Smart TVs in these markets. Under the arrangement, the DStv Stream app will come pre-installed on all new Samsung Smart TVs sold across 18 African countries, including Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The initiative also supports the continued growth of MultiChoice Group’s streaming and over-the-top (OTT) services across Africa.

The latest expansion builds on an existing partnership between CANAL+ and Samsung that already covers 40 markets across Europe, French-speaking Africa, and Asia.

Through the integration, Samsung Smart TV users will be able to access DStv Stream directly from the television’s home screen, providing easier access to a range of content, including sports, entertainment, and local programming.

The platform will offer viewers access to major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup 2026, the English Premier League, and domestic and international rugby competitions, alongside a wide selection of local and international entertainment content.

According to CANAL+, the partnership reflects efforts to strengthen content accessibility and improve user experience as digital viewing habits continue to evolve across Africa.
