“We have seen the power of your ability to tell positive stories about our sector and about this great country that is Uganda. Together we are creating an unstoppable narrative,” Mulinge said.

Mulinge congratulated NBS Television on reaching its 18th anniversary, describing the milestone as a foundation for a new chapter in the broadcaster’s journey.

She attributed NBS Television’s growth and influence to its youthful approach to content creation, quality programming and investment in digital infrastructure, which she said have distinguished the station in Uganda’s competitive media industry.

“I find it a very youth-focused station in terms of how you have developed and propagated your content. The massive investment you have made in digital infrastructure is what truly differentiates NBS and has made you a standard,” she said.

The MTN Uganda CEO also praised the broadcaster’s presenters and programmes, noting that they reflect Uganda’s culture and diversity while maintaining strong audience engagement.

Mulinge said the partnership between MTN Uganda and NBS Television has contributed to the country’s shift towards digital media consumption by enabling audiences to access news and content across multiple platforms.

She noted that mobile technology has transformed how audiences interact with media, allowing viewers to consume content from anywhere rather than relying only on traditional television broadcasts.

According to Mulinge, the move towards mobile-first content delivery has strengthened engagement between media organisations and audiences while supporting MTN Uganda’s wider digital transformation agenda.

She added that collaborations such as the one between MTN Uganda and NBS Television have accelerated digital adoption and expanded access to information in an increasingly connected society.

NBS Television is marking its 18th anniversary with a week-long series of activities that started on July 3, bringing together current and former employees to celebrate the broadcaster’s journey from a single television station into one of Uganda’s leading multimedia companies.

Founded around NBS Television, Next Media has expanded into a multimedia group with interests in television, radio, digital publishing, streaming and strategic communications.

The company operates several television channels, including NBS TV, NBS Sport, Sanyuka TV, Sanyuka Prime and Salam TV, alongside Next Radio. Its digital platforms include AfroMobile, an over-the-top streaming service, and Nile Post, an online news platform.

Over nearly two decades, NBS Television has built a reputation for live news coverage, political programming and election reporting, while Next Media has continued to evolve into a digital-first multimedia company.
