The NRM National Treasurer, Barbara Nekesa, has held a strategic meeting with district executive members from Bukedi subregion to prepare for President Museveni’s upcoming campaign visit and to roll out the party’s new mobilisation strategy ahead of the January 2026 elections.

The meeting held ay Kyoga Hotel in Palisa District was also intended to harmonise campaign preparations and strengthen grassroots structures ahead of the President’s visit.

It opened with the review of the Bukedi Service Delivery Handbook a detailed report outlining development milestones, government interventions, and persistent gaps across the sub-region.

Some of the achievements, the paved Tirinyi-palisa-Kumi road, Palisa-Kamonkoli road, Limoto fish farm, cement factories, Wagagi Gold mine, completed Schools, Health centres projects, presidential skilling hub, among others.

On the contrary key among the gaps is the absence of Tarmac in Butebo district and absence of regional referral hospital.

Nekesa acknowledged the service delivery gaps urging unity and focus among leaders to push the region's development agenda.

"If Nekesa's hight is your problem then you need to realise that we need tamac roads in Butebo because it is a biger problem" she said "if Busia has several parishes without primary schools those are the issues that should bind us together"

She also echoed the NRM’s new mobilisation strategy, which places renewed focus on empowering and activating grassroots structures—from village committees to district executives—to deliver victory for President Museveni and party flag bearers.

The National Treasurer condemned concerns over the recently concluded primaries, insisting that the party remains duty-bound to fully support its chosen candidates.

District leaders welcomed the new approach, saying the reviewed mobilisation strategy is long overdue and will strengthen their efforts to secure overwhelming support in the 2026 general election.

The engagement marks a renewed push by the NRM Secretariat to tighten internal mobilisation, improve messaging, and consolidate the party’s support base ahead of the President’s campaign trail.

President Museveni is expected in Bukedi North on 12 beginning his first campaign rally in Palisa district.
