FDC Unveils Electoral Commission Certificate Confirming Mafabi’s Nomination Date

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has presented a certificate from the Electoral Commission confirming that its presidential flagbearer, Nandala Nandala Mafabi, will be officially nominated on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

At a press briefing in Kampala, FDC Vice Chairperson and Chair of the Organising Committee, Robert Centenary, said the party had completed all the legal requirements for Mafabi’s candidacy.

“I am happy to announce that our candidate met all the requirements,” Centenary told reporters.

“Here is the certificate issued and signed by Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, confirming that the Right Honourable Nandala Mafabi will be nominated on Wednesday 24th September at 10am.”

The nomination will take place at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala and will be followed by a rally in Luzira.

“We are preparing for him to speak to the nation and to our supporters at Kampala Road grounds in Butabika, Luzira,” Centenary said. “I appeal to all citizens to come and listen to the message of hope.”

The party also unveiled its campaign theme – “Fixing the Economy: Money in the Pocket” – with Centenary stressing that Mafabi was the right candidate to address Uganda’s economic challenges.

“You all know that we have the most competent candidate under the circumstances to fix the financial and economic challenges faced by Uganda and Ugandans,” he said.

The FDC announced it will release its full campaign roadmap on September 29, when official campaigns commence.

“For now, it is official – we are nominating on Wednesday, September 24, at 10am,” Centenary concluded.
