The Electoral Commission has rejected signatures submitted to endorse Peasant Party presidential aspirant Robert Kasibante, saying the documents contained inaccuracies.

Paul Bukenya, the EC communications officer, explained that some of the signatures were either incorrect or could have been duplicated.

“Some of the signatures are not correct or could have already been used. We have advised the Peasant Party to go back and bring more signatures,” Bukenya said.

But the decision has angered Peasant Party officials, who maintain their submission was accurate.

Secretary General Ssentongo Sharif and spokesperson Thomas Bagonza accused the EC of frustrating their candidate.

“Why are they doing this to us? We collected signatures as guided by the Electoral Commission,” Bugonza protested.

According to EC guidelines, presidential candidates are required to collect at least 9,800 signatures nationwide, with a minimum of 100 signatures from each district.
