Ebola: Government to deliver emergency relief food items to vulnerable groups in Mubende, Kasanda
The Prime Minister's Office has announced plans to send emergency food aid to disadvantaged groups in Mubende and Kasanda districts that have been impacted by Ebola containment measures.
President Museveni declared a 21-day lockdown and curfew in the two areas last week in order to limit the current Ebola outbreak.

The directive has affected many people, including market vendors, boda-boda cyclists, taxi drivers and conductors, saloon owners, and others, who can no longer carry out their duties, leaving them vulnerable.
In a statement dated October 21, 2022, the government stated that it has acknowledged and studied concerns voiced by political leaders from Mubende and Kasanda on the Ebola control measures, and that it will now act.
“Following clearance from the President, we now guide as follows; Starting next week, the Office of the Prime Minister will deliver emergency relief food items to vulnerable groups i.e those who are impacted most, by Ebola control measures, in the above 2 districts,” the statement reads in part.
The government also announced that boda-boda cyclists in Mubende and Kasanda will be allowed to operate again, but only for the purpose of transporting luggage and in accordance with the Presidential decision on curfew hours.
According to the most recent Ministry of Health data, the Ebola outbreak is under control. On Thursday, the ministry reported one additional case of Ebola, bringing the total number of cases to 65 since the outbreak began.
Two further deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to twenty-seven (27). By Thursday, there were nine active cases, with a total of twenty-six recoveries (26).
