President Museveni has asked Muslim leaders around the country to preach peace, unity and tranquility as the means for the country to attain transformation.

The president made his remarks in a message to all muslims during the Ramadan period.

“I call upon all Muslim leaders all over the country to preach a message of peace, tranquility, hard work and prosperity that we may experience development of our nation and total transformation,” Museveni said

“The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time of prayer, retreat from all routine and a moment of complete submission to God as the supreme authority to bring about positive changes in our lives. As you embark on Ramadhan, may Allah's blessings rest on you, your supplications be heard and granted by the Almighty Allah. May all the rewards that come with your participation be manifest in your lives and come to fruition.”

Museveni said that Uganda had gone through challenging moments during the pandemic but has overcome most of them through prayer.

“I trust that in this year, the prayers for yourselves and the nation in this month of Ramathan will see Uganda experience a resuscitation of the economy to self -reliance. We can ably testify that through our cooperate prayers with your leaders in our national prayer days, God has answered many prayers.”

The president  also called upon the Islamic community to observe SOPs during their prayers. He said this would help allay any fears of a resurgence in the COVID-19 infections.

“I implore you to observe SOPs at the places of worship, so that we do not experience a rebound of high Covid -19 infections. Those who have not yet gone for vaccinations please go and get vaccinated at government Health Centers and designated places.”
