PLE results out tomorrow

The 2020 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) will be released on Friday, July 16, 2021, the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has announced.

The exam board on Wednesday met and briefed the Minister of Education Janet Museveni about the results and on Friday she will be releasing them to the public.

According to UNEB principal public relations officer Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the exam release will be scientific with only a few officials and the media allowed to be present.

"The scientific release will take place at State House Entebbe, involving a few invited guests. The time will be 11:00am," Kalule said.

Kalule said candidates with their parents and other stakeholders may use the usual Short Message Services (SMS) to know the results after the official release.

"This will be done by typing PLE <space> Full Index Number of the candidate, e.g 003301/368 and send to 6600 on all mobile telecom networks," she said.

Kalule said that for school administrators, results will after the official release, be uploaded on the examinations centre portals to enable schools to download them.

"No hard copies of the results will be available at the UNEB offices for now, until a later date when conditions permit. UNEB will officially inform the district, municipal and city inspectors of schools to collect the hard copies of the results from UNEB offices," Kalule said.

According to UNEB, a total of 749,761 candidates from 14,300 examination centres registered for PLE in 2020, 53 percent (395,855) of these were females while 47 percent (353,957) were males.

Of these, 68.4 percent (513,091 pupils) were funded by government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program.

Unlike previous exam results release where successful candidates would gather at schools for merry making to celebrate, this time no celebrations will be expected because such social gatherings are prohibited by the ministry of Health in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
