Museveni’s ex PPS Kamukama rejected by court, and NRM CEC

2021 Elections Watch

President Museveni’s former Principal Private Secretary and Minister for Economic Monitoring, Molly Kamukama has had her attempt at blocking political rival Jennifer Muheesi thwarted by both the ruling party top organ and court.

Kamukama and Muheesi went head to head in the recently concluded ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries for Kazo Woman Member of Parliament but lost to the latter.

The NRM electoral commission announced Muheesi as the winner of the party primaries for Kazo woman MP seat after garnering 16802 votes against Kamukama’s 16715 votes.

However, Kamukama protested the results with insistence she was rigged out. She consequently dashed to court to stop the nomination and endorsement of Muheesi.

In her application to the civil division of the High Court in Mbarara, Kamukama challenged Muheesi’s election and asked the court to stop her nomination until the main case is disposed of.

However, on Wednesday, Kamukama’s application Number 05 of 2020 been dismissed by Ag. Deputy Registrar, Mbarara High Court, Samuel Twakyire.

Also, a statement from NRM’s Central Executive Committee released the same day endorsed Muheesi as the validly elected flag bearer for Kazo woman Member of Parliament.
