FDC's Amuriat names campaign team ahead of 2021 general election

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, has named the team that will lead his campaign in the 2021 general election.

Addressing journalists at the part headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Amuriat said the national chairman Wasswa Birigwa will lead the campaign team.

Birigwa contested with Amuriat for the party’s flag but stepped down for him.

Amuriat has also named Roland Kaginda Mugume as national field coordinator and Albert Okello Oduman as the executive director of the campaign bureau.

He said this team is now tasked with the duty of constituting the campaign bureau and necessary structures as well as set up various fundraising platforms.

Amuriat said the role of this campaign team will be to put in place a robust campaign team, mobilise funds, and set up campaign structures.

“The team is expected to set up a campaign bureau and campaign structures. The complete campaign team will be unveiled on Monday October 19th 2020 after the necessary approvals,"he said.

“I will commence a country wide mobilisation campaign on Saturday October 17th. During this exercise I will interact with FDC leaders, supporters and nominated candidates. This exercise will be concluded with a grand homecoming in Soroti."

Amuriat revealed that the party has paid the requisite nomination fees for all eligible candidates who have expressed interest to contest.

“All our candidates are instructed to present themselves for nominations on the first day of the exercise (October 15th),” he said.
