Kadaga warns residents against misusing road

Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has cautioned Pallisa residents against misusing the modern road network but should rather use it as a link to social economic activities.

"Make good use of these roads to access markets and get some money to improve on your household income, as government we shall continue to ensure that more infrastructure is constructed"

Kadaga made the remarks Monday at Kadesok village, Kibale sub county in Pallisa district while inspecting the work progress on the Tirinyi- Pallisa/ Kumi (67Km), and Pallisa- Kamonkoli (44Km) roads works.

The road works expected to be completed next year are being upgraded from gravel to bituminous standards by an Egyptian based Arab contractors and supervised by UNRA under a US$74-million-dollar government funded project.

The speaker directed the state minister for works Peter Lokeris to fast track the upgrade of Pallisa- Kaliro -Kamuli roads and Saaka bridge which connects Pallisa to Busoga.

This she said will ease the movement of traders from the two districts.

Responding to the concerns of acute scarcity of water in the district and mainly at Opwateta sub county, Kadaga urged the Arab contractors to provide water sources to the locals.

The Executive Director Arab contractors, Mohammed Mohsen Salah applauded the speaker and government for the bilateral relationship between Uganda and Egypt.

Praising his company as leading in the middle east and Africa having existed since 1955, Salah stressed that the company will continue providing quality works with total adherence to government's Covid 19 SOPs.

Richard Oseku the Kibale county MP applauded government for finally fulfilling its promise which has been pending for a half a century.

"This road has been a political curtain in this region as it had taken a quarter century to work on"

Oseku asked government to speed up the process of rural electrification as he urged locals to start on massive production.
