Police arrests woman who accused Pastor Yiga of rape

Police in Kampala has arrested a woman who accused Kawaala Revival Church senior pastor, Yiga Augustine of rape.

The lady has been identified as Angel Aninembabazi from Sheema district.

Ainembabazi, 20, accused Pastor Yiga earlier this year of raping her when she joined his church aged 15 years in 2014 and impregnated her instead of giving her the spiritual redemption she had sought for. Yiga was subsequently detained at Kawempe Police Station where he recorded a statement and released on police bond.

Now speaking to NBS UNCUT, Pastor Yiga confirmed that Ainembabazi has been arrested to answer charges of defamation, saying that they have collected video evidence against her saying that she was sent by Pastor Jackson Senyonga to tarnish his name.

Yiga also said that the Ainembabazi was asked to carry out a DNA test back in 2015 but the results have never been availed yet it takes about a month for one to get their results. He now wants Ainembabazi to answer cases of defamation and refund him for tarnishing his name.

"This woman said that I raped her in 2014 and that she gave birth to my child. If the child is really mine, let her bring the DNA test results and I will take care of that child. We have collected video evidence of her saying that she was paid by Pastor Jackson Senyonga. I want her to be charged with defamation," Yiga said in part.

Ainembabazi was arrested and detained at Kawaala Police Station. Pastor Yiga said that for the best of this year, the lady has been on run but they finally managed to capture her.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owesigyire confirmed the arrest and said that Ainembabazi was later transferred to Old Kampala Police Station, where she was still being held by the time of compiling this report.

"Pastor Yiga coordinated with our men on ground and they were able to arrest her. They provided videos and information and she is now at Old Kampala Police Station," Owesigyire confirmed the arrest.
