Activist Nana, baby arrested during protest against police brutality

Midmorning, traffic in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, came to a standstill after an activist Annet Namata also known as Nalongo Nana protested in the middle of the road.

She carried out her protest near the DFCU Ntinda branch.

Nana was protesting against police brutality that allegedly led to the loss of her uterus.

As she protested, she was holding her one year old baby. She was joined by an unidentified friend.

Traffic police was at first hesitant to arrest her until the anti-riot police arrived and she was arrested and forced into police truck by female traffic police officers.

Her baby was taken away from her by DPC Kiira Road Police Micheal Kasigire.

Nana was briefly locked up at Kiira Road police station as she demanded to see her baby.
