Vipers Sports Club sued over logo copyrights
Uganda Premier League giants, Vipers Sports Club have been sued over logo copyright.
According to a statement that has been accessed by this website, a one Issa Kainamura through his lawyers of C/O MS KTA ADVOCATES is accusing Vipers of copyright infringement and breach of confidence and he is now seeking for general and aggravated damages, injunction and the costs of the suit.

According to court documents, Vipers approached Kainamura (The Plaintiff) through their then Marketing Manager identified as Elvis Sekatte to make for the logo that would fit in their 2016-2020 marketing strategy.
Kainamura went ahead to design three options for Vipers SC which he shared with them via email. He says that he tried getting feedback from them to conclude on which of the three they had chosen to go with but he was ignored according to the documents.
"On several occasions, the Plaintiff's prompted the Defendant (Vipers) to conclude but he was instead ignored, left hanging and anxiously waiting hoodwinked to think he had seized a good business opportunity," the document reads in part.
Kainamura states that he was left in shock and dismay in around September 24, 2018 when he watched a press conference on Twitter where Vipers was unveiling a new multi-million dollar stadium with his logo emblazoned all over the facility as Vipers official logo before going ahead to make it available to the public by publishing it on all their print, online and social media platforms.
Kainamura now feels cheated, used and says that he suffered financial loss for the actions of Vipers. He says that his skill and labour was used without any reward and he now seeks Court's intervention.
Court has now given Vipers 15 days, starting August 7, to file its defense or else Court will go ahead with the case and can even pass on the judgment in their absence.
