Vipers midfielder Moses Waiswa joins South African giants SuperSport United

Vipers Sports Club midfielder, Moses Waiswa has officially joined Supersport United in South Africa, the Kitende based club has announced.

“We can confirm that Waiswa is now joining the three times ABSA Premier Soccer League champions after both clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the midfielder,” Vipers said on their website.

They said the player has signed a two year contract with the South African giants.

The 22 year old midfielder was voted the 2018 Most Valuable Player of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, beating KCCA’s Allan Okello to the gong.

However, since then, he has not been at his best form.

A few weeks to the Afcon 2019 kick off, Waiswa was dropped from the Cranes team after suffering a nagging knee injury.

The Kitende based club on Thursday announced that having made it clear to them that he was seeking to further his career, they agreed to let him go to South Africa.

“Under these circumstances, and considering that Waiswa’s contract was coming to an end in January 2020 where he could transfer for free, the club respected that decision and reluctantly allowed him to move on for a significant fee and sell-on.”

Vipers however applauded the midfielder for his services to them that guided them to winning the 2017/18 Uganda Premier League title.

“It is always difficult losing a player of Waiswa’s footballing and personal qualities, and allowing a player of his calibre to leave the club was never an easy decision.”
