The deceased has been identified as Emmanuel Magarura, a teacher at St Charles Lwanga School in Bushenyi district while the suspect has been identified by police Robert Asiimwe, a student at Kyambogo University.

According to police, they were tipped off by a driver of a car Asiimwe (Student) had hired to allegedly collect a rubbish package which he said was t be dumped ‘somewhere’.

The driver, who has not been identified got suspicious of the way the rubbish had been packaged, and contacted police who later established that it was of a body that was wrapped in the rubbish.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the incident on Thursday evening.

According to Asiimwe, Mugarura had come to pay him a visit at his hostel, but ‘suddenly died’ during the course of the visit.

However, Police said that the body had bruises which indicate the deceased might have tried to save his life in the face of death. Police is now investigating the issue and the suspect is in its custody.

By press time, the body was at Mulago hospital for further post mortem investigations.
