Wakiso land officials granted bail by Anti-Corruption court

The Grade One Magistrate presiding over the Anti Corruption Court session, Sarah Namusobya yesterday granted a cash bail to the six officials from the ministry of Lands zonal office in Wakiso district who are under probe.

The six officials were rounded up during an operation by the State House Anti Corruption Unit led by Lt. Col Edith Nakalema at the Wakiso district land headquarters.

Although the session was in camera, the accused lead counsel Ssemambo Rashid let us in on what transpired.

"I am confident that justice will prevail for the accused," Ssemambo said.

He however expressed disappointment about the poor communication and time management in the handling of the case.

Wakiso district land office was the first to be raided by the new corruption outfit.

Other officials that appeared before the same court are tororo municipality officials who were charged with abuse of office.
