The Bishop of Buganda in the Seventh Day Adventist Church Bishop Samuel Kajoba over the weekend  said the coming into power of the NRM government in 1986 gave them a new lease of life.

Kajoba was speaking during celebrations at the SDA church at Najjanankumbi to toast to the good relationship between the church at the NRM. The celebrations coincided with NRM's 33 years anniversary.

"As you read Romans Chapter 13, leaders come into existence because of the power of God. And because they come through the will of God, our work as leaders, our work as Christians is to pray for them to that they can maintain what God saw in them. So that they can uphold the word of God, uphold the security of their people," Kajoba said.

He added: "Idi Amin had banned us but when the NRM came, we kind of resurrected again. We kind of existed again. This government has given us space to operate, space to preach, space to move from one place to another."

This year’s liberation day fell on the Sabbath, the day the seventh day Adventist dedicated to God.

And at the Adventist Church in Najjanakumbi in Kampala, it was a moment of worship to celebrate their good relationship with the ruling NRM.

The Deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah urged the Adventists to make the solemn vow, not to join any group that is fighting government.

Oulanyah assured believers that the NRM government will ensure peace and security prevails in the pearl of Africa.
