Police heavily deployed at Bobi Wine's One Love Beach, Busabala, teargas early revelers

The Uganda Police Force has deployed heavily at musician and legislator Robert Kyagulanyi's (aka Bobi Wine) One Love Beach, Busabala along Entebbe road.

Bobi Wine had planned to hold a Boxing Day concert at his One Love Beach but police has said the music show will not take place. Speaking earlier, Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said the show's organisers had not sought permission from the authorities to hold the show.

Bobi Wine has insisted that the music show will go ahead. However, police has deployed heavily at the scene. They have also teargassed several early revellers who tried to gain entry to One Love Beach. Police is using the infamous pink coloured teargas last used on former Forum for Democratic Party president Dr Kizza Besigye.

Police also fired live bullets to disperse crowds that had started to gather at One Love Beach.

The musician and legislator tried to confront the police at the beach. In videos shared on social media, the vocal legislator and musician can be seen and heard accusing the police of violating his rights as citizen with a right to earn a living. He also wonders why the police officers are engaged in carrying out orders that go against the law.

Police recently issued new guidelines for event organisers that they claim Bobi Wine had failed to follow.
