Museveni: "Kutesa will be investigated over bribery allegations" (VIDEO)
President Museveni yesterday assured the nation that Sam Kutesa, the minister for Foreign Affairs will be investigated by government over allegations that he received a $500,000 (Shs1.8 billion)bribe from a Chinese company to help it gain business in Uganda.
Last week, a court in New York convicted Patrick Ho Chi Ping for allegedly offering the bribe to President Museveni through Kutesa, to secure support for China Energy Fund in Uganda’s energy industry.

While officially opening the Anti-Corruption Unit on Monday, Museveni said Kutesa had reached out to him over the allegations and the matter had been forwarded to the attorney general.
“Obviously it is a crime for him to get money from a foreign company. What were they paying you for? That would be a bribe and he will be answerable,” he said.
Museveni said Kutesa told him the money was meant for charity not for personal use. The president said he would closely monitor the matter.
Kutesa was censured by the 6th Parliament for alleged corruption.
Museveni announced the new Anti-Corruption Unit headed by Lt Colonel Edith Nakalema will go hard on corrupt officials in government.
"Nakalema is a tough lady although she is very talkative...She cannot see a wrong and keep quiet," Museveni said.
Nakalema's office will have toll-free lines and other media channels for the public to report corruption-related cases.
