NTUNGAMO-Some buildings of Butare  Primary School a government aided school in Ntungamo district were destroyed by a hailstorm  yesterday evening.

None of the pupils were affected except two teachers who were seriously hit by the rubble and are currently nursing wounds at Itojo hospital.

Parents, teachers and the district leadership are now unsure about the way forward. They have decided to call for government’s intervention.

Immediately after the incident, parents flocked the school thinking some of their children had died from the dilapidated buildings but fortunately enough none of them was in those buildings by the time the hailstorm struck.

Desks, marking papers, pupils’ reports, and library were all affected.

Kyorayende Eva, the school head teacher, blamed government for sitting back despite constant outcries by the school administration over the poor state of their buildings.

Nathan Ahimbisibwe the Bishop South Ankole diocese, the founder body of this school, said there are very many schools with buildings of the same nature in the district.

Some of them have been washed away by the rains whereas some have been abandoned in fear for the lives of the children.
