Police officer arrested for appearing in video drunk

Police have arrested one of their own officer for appearing in a video drunk while at a function.

In a video that made rounds on social media this week, the police officer was seen staggering as a crowd surrounding him cheered him with Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga song.

However, the Professional Standards Unit spokesperson, Vincent Ssekate has said the police constable identified as Belfasp Okullo has been arrested.

“The officer appearing in the video clip is No 40944 PC Belfasp Okullo attached to Rwizi region in Mbarara was last night arrested for discreditable conduct/ irregular conduct,”Ssekate said.

The PSU spokesperson added that the officer will appear in the regional police court in Mbarara.

The Police disciplinary Code of Conduct states that a police officer who while on or off duty is unfit for duty through drink or drugs commits an offence.

A police officer is drunk if owing to the influence of any alcohol or drugs, whether alone or in combination with any other circumstances, he or she is unfit to be called upon to perform duties at any time or behaves in a disorderly manner likely to bring discredit to the force.
