VIDEO: General Kayihura Arrives at General Court Martial; Trial starts

Kayihura faces the charges of failure to protect war materials. This split into two counts; one is distributing war materials to unauthorised personnel that are named as Boda Boda 2010 led by Abdallah Kitata and two; failing to supervise war materials.

Kayihura is accused of aiding in the kidnapping and repatriating of Rwandan refugees from Uganda back to their native country.

Kayihura has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Kayihura's lawyers have asked for bail for their client and court has granted Tuesday, August 28, 2018 as the date for hearing that request.

Former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura has arrived at the General Court Martial in Makindye. A slightly smiling General Kayihura arrived clad in his Uganda People's Defence Forces uniform.

Former Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI) chief and National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) boss James Mugira is also in attendance and had a quick chat with Kayihura in the dock.

Kayihura was arrested near his country home in Katebe village, Kashagama sub-county Lyantonde district in June 2018. He has spent 2 months in detention.
