Member of First Lady’s security advance team stabbed

Police in Kabale District are hunting for a suspect who allegedly stabbed a UPDF soldier attached to the Special Forces Command.

The soldier, Stephen Kangiriho was in Kabale as part of the advance team for the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni who is expected to grace Kabale University Open day celebrations Friday.

However, Kangiriho got need to unwind and headed to New California T & J Transit bar and Hotel, a popular night spot in Kabale municipality. It is at this bar that he was stabbed in commotion by a yet to be identified reveller, leaving his with serious injuries.

Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, Elly Maate said that so far 54 people have been arrested in relation to the crime. “They will be charged for being a public nuisance.”

“We are investing circumstances under which this person was injured. We advise people to stop going to social events with such dangerous items, some of their problems can be solved amicably or using our relevant offices,” Maate said.

“We are hunting for the culprit who is at large. Meanwhile Kangiriho is admitted to Mbarara regional referral hospital for medical attention.”
