Police errs on Onyango appointment, changes him to Deputy spokesperson

Uganda Police Force have clarified that former spokesperson Patrick Onyango was appointed to the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) press office in error.

Onyango is the reshuffles published by the Human Resource directorate was indicated as replacing for Luke Oweyesigyire who has been acting as the spokesperson for KMP.

However, the Director of Human Resource Administration Moses Balimwoyo says that Onyango has been appointed Emilian Kayima’s deputy instead.

“SP Onyango is appointed deputy PRO police headquarters not KMP as reflected in my earlier communication VIDE HRM 131/133/08/2018,” a communication from Balimwoyo reads.

The Police top management through Balimwoyo has  also transferred 88 police officers barely two days after the appointment of a new Inspector General of Police.

The transfer affects mainly those officers between the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Senior Superintendent of Police. Most of those transferred have been on course.

Among those transferred is Bernard Mugerwa, who moves from the post of Divisional Police Commander-DPC Kabalagala to Butaleja.
