Police grill Case Clinic staff over gruesome murder of accountant

Detectives from Wandegeya Police Station and the Directorate of Crime Investigations have grilled senior officials at Case Clinic over the death of their senior account, Francis Ekalungar. Ekalungar was killed last week and his body set ablaze by unidentified people.

The deceased's body that was burnt beyond recognition was found dumped in Kajajansi in Wakiso District, a day after he was reported missing by his supervisors. DNA tests conducted by the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya on the remains confirmed the body was for Ekalungar.

It later emerged that Ekalungar met his death when he left Case Clinic to bank Shillings 15 million. On Tuesday afternoon, a team of detectives from Wandegeya Police Station and the Directorate of Crime Investigations stormed Case Clinic to interrogate the senior officials on the circumstance surrounding Ekalungar's death.

Among those interrogated were the General Manager, Isaac Buraffu and the Chief Security Officer of the hospital whose identity wasn't readily available by the time of filing this story. The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the presence of detectives at Case Clinic on Buganda road.

"It is true detectives are at Case clinic recording statements from the staff members there, " Owoyesigyire said. He however, didn't divulge details. Police has since arrested three security guards who were on duty at Case Clinic the day Ekalungar went missing.

Police have also launched a manhunt a motorcyclist who was spotted on CCTV trailing the deceased when he drove from the hospital.
