Beef in Creamy Mushroom Sauce with fork-tender beef and a delectable mushroom gravy that’s delicious over steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles is easy to make and cooks in one pan!

This simple recipe will give  your dining table a 5 star appearance and yet it is one the simplest things you  can do with beef beside the usual boiled or fried beef stew.

The recipe starts with marinating the beef and below is what is use in my

marinade.

1kg thin sliced beef strips(steak)

1 tea spoon of salt

Crushed finger of ginger

4 crushed cloves of garlic

2 table spoons of soysauce

Mix these in the beef and set aside for an hour.

In the meantime, prepare the ingredients that will be used in the sauce.

1 kg of fresh mushroom, could be tinned button mushrooms or our Uganda

market oyster mushrooms slice.

1 large onion sliced

1 large carrot sliced into long strips

3 cloves crushed garlic

2 large tomatoes sliced

2 tea spoons of salt

Half a litre of milk

Dry parsley

Fresh coriander leaves

Spring onions

2 table spoons of Cooking oil

¼ cup of flour

After an hour of marinating the beef, coat it in flour, heat cooking oil in a pan

Fry the flour coated beef till it turns golden brown, remove from the pan and

set aside.

You do not have to wash the sauce pan clean, even if it has a burnt coating of

flour at the bottom. The burnt coating will add one heck of a flavor and color

to our sauce.

Toss in the onions and crushed garlic and fry till tender.

Add sliced carrots and mushrooms, fry then add the diced tomatoes

In the dish that was used to marinate the beef, pour in the milk, to make use

of all the marinade and pour into the cooking vegetables

Mix the remaining flour with a bit of water, this will thicken the sauce to make

it creamy.

Boil for about 5 minutes, adding salt to taste then add the fried beef strips

Cook for another 20 minutes, garnish with fresh coriander, spring onions and

dry parsely. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, chapatti, noodles or spaghetti.
