Lugazi Municipal and Butema to grace Aisha Ssemambo’s last

Lugazi Municipal FC and Butema Soccer Masters will face-off on the opening day of the Buganda Regional League this Wednesday, a match that will mark Aisha Ssemambo’s exit from active refereeing.

Aisha Ssemambo will join a list of Uganda’s Elite referees who have retired from active refereeing following the footsteps of Catherin Nagadya and Rashid Kimera who officiated the final and 3rd place playoff of the Masaza Cup as their last games of active refereeing respectively.

Ssemambo joined the list of FIFA referees from 2006 to 2018 and has been attending Football administration courses - her next journey after active refereeing.

Ssemambo is expected to join the list of football match assessors in the near future.

Lugazi Municipal FC vs Butema Soccer Maters

Lugazi Municipal Football Club continues preparations ahead of their opening game against Butema Soccer Masters this Wednesday.

The two teams in the Ssezibwa group of the Buganda Region League will be playing their first game of the season at the Mehta Stadium, Lugazi.

The home side continued training with a morning session today and so will be there last tomorrow.

Stephen Okot and Joseph Ssenyonjo have returned to training after recovering from malaria while Wasswa Paul and Ogwet Gerald will join the team tomorrow after featuring in the Masaza Cup final over the weekend.

Lugazi Municipal Assistant coach, Efiti Gerald is positive they will make a good mark off their opener.

“We are ready for our opening game and I am glad we have no serious injuries to worry about.

The return of Ogwet (Gerald) and Wasswa (Paul) is a big boost to our ambition.

Butema has just been promoted to the 3rd tier. It will be their first game and we do not understand how they play. We don’t understand their team.

The opening match is never easy, and going against a team you do not know makes it a tricky tie for us”

Said Efiti ahead of their game against Butema SM on Wednesday.
