Thieves break into NGO premises in Bulange, make off with 26 million shillings

Police on Thursday arrested one suspect in a robbery that took place in Bulange A Zone, Mengo where thugs broke into the offices of a Non-Governmental Organization and made off with 26 million Uganda shillings, laptops, phones and jewelry.

Five  members of the NGO called Doing Good were wounded including  night watchmen who were manning the premises.

The injured have been identified as Dutch nationals Lauren January (23) who sustained a cut on her head, Elra How (20) who sustained wounds on her lips, and Eron Buo (19) who sustained head injuries. The Ugandan watchmen injured during the robbery are Patrick Komakech and Ivan Tenywa (34).

The robbery took place in the wee hours in Bulange A Zone Rubaga Division, when eight unidentified thugs broke into premises of Doing Good after jumping over the fence.

The Police is investigating the incident  and a case of aggravated robbery and unlawful wounding and assault has been opened.The injured are receiving treatment.

The LC I chairperson David Lwanga says the Bulange A Zone has many unemployed non resident youths that roam around the area and are suspected to be the cause of insecurity in the area.

Local leaders confirm that they have received a number of break in incidents in the recent past.
