Next Media injects Shs500M in Chameleone's Saba Saba concert

A few days to the D-day, Next Media Services under their brands including NBS TV, Sanyuka TV, Nile Post and Next Radio have injected Shs 500 million into singer Joseph Mayanja, also known as Jose Chameleon’s forthcoming ‘Legends Saba Saba concert.’

The package was unveiled today at the Next Media Services headquarters along Kira road in Kampala.

“As we continue to celebrate ten years since hitting the Ugandan airwaves, we have decided to give back to one of the people who have greatly contributed to the development of the music industry,” said Joe Kigozi, Next Media's Chief of Strategy.

“He has entertained Ugandans and has shaped a generation. Supporting him was the right thing from us.”

Singer Jose Chameleone explained the origin of the name ‘Saba Saba’ saying he wants to equate the concert to the Soviet Union made BM Katushya rocket launcher used by the Tanzanian soldiers who helped dispose Ugandan president Idi Amin in 1979.

The rocket launcher was nicknamed ‘Saba Saba’ in reference to the deafening sound it made.

“The concert will only be equated to ‘Saba Saba’.I promise this time round you are going to witness what you have never seen at nay local concert,” Chameleone said.

“I will treat my audience to the over 300 songs I have. By 7pm I will be on stage and by 11:45pm I will be leaving and the concert will be closing.”

Event organiser Balaam Barugahara said the concert will only be equated to Michael Jackson’s “This is it’’ concert that he held in London.

“Chameleone is Uganda’s Michael Jackson and expect a massive show. We don’t expect any political affiliations but genuine fans to come and attend the show,”Barugahara said.

The ‘Legend Saba Saba’ concert is scheduled to take place on December 7 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
