Electric pole crashes three cars, two motorcycles in Kampala town

Featured

An electric pole has fallen, crashing three cars parked along Wilson Road in downtown Kampala this afternoon.

The incident happened after a merchandise truck that was making its way down Wilson road became entangled in the electric wires and brought the pole down onto the cars parked in the area.

According to eye witnesses, the cars were not occupied at the time the incident happened  so no injuries were recorded.

Robert Kasule who was at the scene at the time of the incident said the concrete pole looked worn out before the accident and was likely to topple over soon.

“The pole had already started giving way, it is just the the heavy truck aided it,” he said.

In April 2017, a teacher at Kabojja International School, Rose Muhinza escaped death when an electric transformer collapsed on her vehicle along Dewinton Road in Kampala.

Rose Muhinza had just dropped off her child when one of the poles holding up the transformer broke and came crashing down on her car.

Rose Muhinza said that said that Umeme, the power company responsible for maintaining the poles, only sent her flowers while in hospital.
