Day of stalemates as Uganda Premier League resumes

A total of four stablemates out of the eight games dominated match day 16 as the Azam Uganda Premier League resumed on Saturday.

Teams have been in recess following the end of round one in December.

On Saturday,  a host of games were played in various stadia around the country.

In Kavumba, hosts Soana FC fell on the sword of Kitende based Vipers Sports Club, thanks to new recruit Daniel 'Mzee' Sserunkuuma's 87th minute goal.

At Kakindu stadium, hosts BUL FC beat former defending champions Uganda Revenue Authority one nil, thanks to a Douglas Owori goal, only a minute to the end of the game.

Struggling Express FC managed to pick a point from Arua based Onduparaka Football Club after the game ended goalless at the Green light stadium.

Record champions SC Villa were also held to a goalless draw by Luzira based new league entrants, Maroons FC at the Masaka Recreational grounds.

In Bugonga, Masavu played to a one all draw in another battle for supremacy in the Azam Uganda Premier League at the Fisheries Training Institute.

At Namboole, Police FC were held to a nil all draw by new entrants Mbarara City FC whereas Proline suffered defeat at the hands of Kirinya Jinja SS FC in another battle for supremacy in Jinja.

SC Villa are still at the top of the Azam Uganda Premier League after collecting 33 points from 16 games .
